Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Been a busy couple of months for me with grad school and all but for all you old school otaku out there, have I got news for you. Robert J. Woodhead the founder of Animeigo who released popular anime series as Otaku No Video has set up a Kickstarter project to release the original Bubblegum Crisis on Blu-Ray. The project started last week and has raised over $80,000 dollars as of this writing. So your probably wondering why he is going thru with this on Kickstarter, well Robert states on the projects Kickstater page, “Anyone who follows the foreign-film business know that changes in the anime market over the last decade has made life much more riskier for releasers, and the result has been that small companies like ours have to be very conservative in our licensing decisions when it comes to niche titles (which we like the most)” Source: Bubblegum Crisis Ultimate Edition Kickstarter Page.

Granted I know how hard the industry is hurting We as fans know that the big three distributors ADV Films, Geneon Pioneer and Bandai Entertainment have gone bankrupt due to the stress of the industry loosing steam. However projects like these really give me as a fan hope that the industry will one day go back to its glory days when we get to see excellent series like this getting a new lease on life by giving new generations of fans a chance to see series like this for themselves. So if your interested in supporting this project, then click on the link below and learn more about it and discover some of the great rewards for supporting this project. And I have to say that the biggest award is something a true otaku would love. Granted I would love to tell you more about it, but you have to see it for yourself.

So until next time, remember that there is a ton of great anime and manga out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

Afc Editorial Replies: Xbox 720-Upgrade or Save Your Money?

April 14, 2013

xbox720-1

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Well it has been eight years since the Xbox 360 was released here in the U.S. Now the next generation of the Xbox Gaming Console will be coming later on this year. So the question is, should you trade in your old 360 for the 720 or just save your money and get a PS4? Well here is the skinny of what is to come (supposedly) with the new Xbox.

1) Graphics– The new Xbox is going to have less graphics power than the PS4 in which might not be a good thing for hard core gamers. The CPU will have a 1.6 Ghz processing speed in which will be the same as the PS4 but the 8gb’s of memory may be a tough sell for hard core gamers.

2) Blu-Ray: There are also rumors that the new Xbox will contain a Blu-Ray drive but it may not include one at all. Now keep in mind that when the 360 was released back in 2005, they adopted the HD-DVD standard and you all how how well that turned out. So including a Blu-Ray drive might be a smart move for Microsoft to do to compete with Sony which had Blu-Ray in the PS3 from the get go.

And now the downer that might just turn people away,

3) No Support For Used Games: Now this rumor has been going on since the rumors of the 720 have been going around. For those of you who don’t know, if you decide to go sell your used games at your local GameStop for new games, you will not be able to play them with the new system. I feel that this is going to be the hardest sell for those who want to upgrade but they don’t want to shell out 50 to 60 bucks for new games in which might just make the loyal Xbox faithful switch over to the PS4 and hurt the used game industry as a whole.

Now keep in mind that I only covered a few pieces of information about the new Xbox, but these are mostly rumors so these things may or may not appear in the final product when it is released for the 2013 holiday shopping season. So stay with AFC for more info on the Xbox 720 as it develops. So until next time, remember that there is a ton of great anime and manga out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Well I am happy to say that I am just about finished with my writing intensive course YEA!!!!!!! So that means it is time for me to catch up on much needed anime watching and blogging before the fall semester starts. So to kick tings off, here is some breaking news about some upcoming anime releases.

First, Bandai Entertainment has recently announced that they are pushing back the release date of The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya season 2 to September 14, 2010. Bandai originally planned to release the second installment of the popular series this month (August 16, 2010).

And in other anime related news Aniplex, a popular anime distribution company who brought us such popular series such as Full Metal Alchemist and Full Metal Alchemist:Brotherhood has announced that they will be releasing a R.O.D. (Read Or Die) as a Blu-Ray box set later this year. This collection will feature the original three part OVA along with the twenty-six episode television series. Currently, Aniplex has not set an official release date for the box set. Originally, the OVA and TV series were released by separate studios (Manga Entertainment-OVA and Geneon Entertainment-TV Series).

As always stay with AFC for more information on these developing stories. So until next time, remember that there is a ton of great anime and manga out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.
