Misc Stuff-Anime March Madness Round 1

March 14, 2010

2009-06-bakemono

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Well since today officially kicks off March Madness (Aka: NCAA College Basketball Tournament), I have decided to do my own version of this major sporting event in which I will call Anime March Madness. And before I get into this, I can assure you that their will be no confusing brackets to fill out but you will get to be a part of the action!!!!!!! So without further ado, let’s get started.

Ok, here’s how it is going to work. So for the next few weeks, I am going to be pairing up different aspects of otaku culture to face off in a head to head showdown to see who is the best of the best in the world of otaku culture. So lets get this competition started with our first match up, and here it is.

Round 1-Phoenix Wright Vs. Apollo Justice

Phoenix Wright   ApolloJustice

So for our first match up we have two of the greatest attorneys ever to be featured in a video game franchise. I am referring to Phoenix Wright and Apollo Justice. So before I tell you guys how to get involved, lets take a look at the evidence shall we!!!!! LOL!!!!!

Phoenix Wright

Now as most of you guys know, Phoenix Wright was known as a rookie defense attorney in the original ace attorney games. He was also known for his dry wit and sense of humor when it comes to trials. But after he lost his attorneys badge over forged evidence, he adopts a young girl named Trucy Greymeyer and opens up a talent agency in which he looks for new and current talent. Sounds like a person who you like to hire if you get caught in a jam doesn’t it. Ok, lets move on.

Apollo Justice

Next we have Apollo Justice, a young attorney with a mysterious past. Abandoned as an infant, young Apollo grew up to be a strong attorney in which Phoenix takes him under his wing in order to improve and hone his skills as an defense attorney. It is also know that he is the half brother of Trucy!!!!!!!!

Voting

Ok the evidence has been layed upon you. So now it is time for you to get in on the action. It is up to you the readers out there to determine who will move on to the next round. to cast your vote, all you have to do is to leave a comment at the end of this post, send me a private message on twitter or email me at animefullcircle@gmail.com. You will have 48 hours to cast your vote, voting will end at 11:59pm Eastern\10:59pm Central on March 16, 2010.

New match-ups will be posted every 48 hours so make sure to stop back and visit to see if your favorites will move on in the tournament. Also feel free to send me ideas for match ups that you would like to see for Anime March Madness, fell free to post them in the comments section, pm me on twitter or email them to me. And  with that the voting begins now!!!!!!!!!!

So until next time, remember that their is a ton of great anime and manga out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

March 3, 2010

purpleanimegirl

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Now I know what you guys are thinking, why the heck haven’t I been updating AFC on a frequent basis over the past few weeks? Well things have been a little bit crazy for me personally with school and work related issues and all of the projects and exams that go with it. So unfortunately, that has cut into my blogging time severely (i.e. my one web based course was one of the culprits in this dilemma LOL!!!!!!!!!!!). However things are looking up for me, I have been able to get back up to speed with that and with spring break only a few weeks away I hope to get back to blogging on a regular schedule later on this week.

I have a lot of great posts that I have been dying to work on including my first salute to Hayao Miyazaki post on Howl’s Moving Castle and my copy of Ponyo is on it’s way so I will have a review on that as well. All that plus a whole lot more is coming you way in the weeks to come. So to all you readers out there, thanks for your continuing support and patience during this crazy moment in my life. And until next time, remember that their is a ton of great anime and manga out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

Misc Stuff-Why The Ipad Is A Complete Waste

January 29, 2010

anime_girl105

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

As most of you may have heard by now, Apple has finally released their new tablet known as the Ipad. Now your probably wondering if you should go ahead and spend your money on one of these devices, well here are my thoughts about it.

Now most of the rumors surrounding the Ipad were that the Ipad was going to have a camera, multitasking, support for Verizon and AT&T 3G networks among a whole bunch of other things. However, that was not the case. The Ipad has no multitasking support, It only supports AT&T networks in which you would have to pay $30 a month extra for unlimited data usage (This is extra if you already have a data plan for your Iphone) and on top of that their is no camera.

However it does support apps you already have on your Iphone and Ipod touch and it has some new features including an e-reader in which you can read the latest mangas and novels directly on the Ipad. Overall, this is an ok device but for $499 for the 16GB model I don’t think it is worth it. In my honest opinion, if you want something to support your digital life, then get an Iphone or Ipod touch. And trust me, it is a better choice. That’s all for now, so until next time. Remember that their is a ton of great anime and manga out there, all you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

And on another note, over the past 48 hours, we have seen a huge increase in hits with my decade of anime posts. This is quite impressive and I cant thank you guys enough for your support. Without you guys, we wouldn’t be where were at today. So until next time, remember that their is a ton of great anime and manga out there. all you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

Misc Stuff-My 5 Predictions For The Anime Industry In 2010

December 29, 2009

newyear%20(4)

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

As most of you readers out there know, last year I did a post in which I made 5 predictions for the anime industry for the coming year (2009). Unfortunately, only one of my predictions was correct which was that anime companies would become mainstream on the net.

Now I know that this has been a tough year for the anime industry as a whole in which we seen the collapse of one of the most successful anime company of the decade ADV Films close their doors and the loss of Anime Insider a very popular magazine that covered the latest news from the anime industry ceased publication. Overall, it has been one tough year for the anime industry. But I feel that 2010 will not only be a great year for the anime industry as a whole, but also a great decade as well. So with that said, here are my five predictions for the anime industry for the coming year.

1) Anime Companies Will Be More Upfront With Their Release Dates

My first prediction focuses on a little pet peeve that I have with the anime industry (Specifically with one company in particular). And that pet peeve is that I hate when anime companies such as Media Blasters keep flip-flopping when it comes to release dates for anime series on DVD. One such example can be seen with the release of Vol. 1 of Genshiken season two in which they originally announced one release date but they kept pushing the date back further and further until it was actually released. This I feel is an complete outrage to not only myself but other fans as well. Therefore I hope that the anime industry will become more upfront with release dates for new series. This way we can have a better idea of when we expect new series to come out.

2) Anime And Manga Companies Will Have More Content Available For Multimedia Devices

Now I know that this is not a totally new concept, but for over the past year some anime companies have released their content for multiple multimedia devices such as PSP, Xbox 360, PS3 among others. This makes more accessible for those who have these devices to watch their favorite anime series anywhere they want without having to spend a fortune on buying individual DVD’s. I feel that this is the year in which we can see more content being released on these devices in which I feel it may catch on very quickly.

3) Anime Companies Will Crack Down On Illegal Fan-Subs

Now more than ever, their are people out there who post up illegal fan-subs of popular anime series on the internet. This unfortunately hurts the domestic anime industry as a whole by raising prices for box sets and individual DVD’s and it also prevents new series from coming to the states. I feel that this will be the year in which the major anime companies will get tougher and start cracking down on illegal fan-subs more frequently. This will not only help with reducing costs, but it may also get the ball rolling on bringing new series to the states.

4) Their Will Be More Communities For Anime And Manga Fans To Share Their Opinions About The Industry

In over the year and 4 months that I have been running Anime Full Circle, I have seen more and more sites pop up in which they share their thoughts about the anime industry as a whole. And while some of these sites have been around longer than others, I have come to enjoy reading what my fellow bloggers think about the industry and how they see it growing in the future. Therefore I feel that their will be more sites popping up in the coming year in which we can see a wealth of information about the industry and how fellow fans feel about it.

5) The Future Of The Anime And Manga Industry For 2010

In closing, this past year has been a tough one for the anime industry. While we have seen the collapse of one of the largest anime companies of the decade and other things that has caused the industry to go into a downward spiral. However while their has been a few ups and down’s, I feel that the industry will have a major turn around in which we can see a better future for the industry as a whole.

And those are my five predictions for the anime industry. Hopefully these predictions will go better than what I did last year LOL. So until next time, remember that their is a ton of great anime and manga out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

Misc Stuff-Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!

December 22, 2009

christmas

Hello and greetings fellow Otaku,

First off I would like to apologize for the lack of updates recently, it has been a little bit crazy with final exams and all, but all in all things have worked out quite well. Who doesn’t say that a person can maintain an anime blog and keep above a 3.0 GPA at the same time LOL!!!!!!!!!!

But anyway, the good news is that I have a few weeks off from work and school so I will be defiantly will be working hard updating the site with the latest news, reviews and and other things from the world of Otaku culture. In fact, I am currently working on another anime review in which focuses on the series Steam Detectives. I know that I promised you guys that I would have this review done a while back, but things have got a little bit crazy in which I haven’t had much time to work on it. But I can assure you guys that I hope to have this review up within the next few days.

So all in all, that is what’s going on with the site in general. So in closing, I would just like to take a moment to wish all you readers out there a very merry Christmas and a very happy new year. I hope that you will take this time to be with your friends and families to celebrate and remember the meaning of the season. So until next time, remember that their is a ton of great anime and manga out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

Edit: And on a personal note, I am hoping to get a netbook for Christmas this year. I know that I have been a good little Otaku this year, so hopefully Santa Claus might be able to make my wish come true so I can be able to update the site more frequently. But if worse come to worse, I know that I will be getting some money and gift cards for Christmas. So it’s pretty much a win win situation for me. LOL.
